Whisper Films & C4F1 win Best Sports Programme at AIB Awards
Whisper Films and Channel 4 were awarded ‘Best Sports Programme’ at last night’s prestigious AIB Awards, for their ‘tremendous expertise’ in the coverage of this season’s Formula 1.
In the debut season, Channel 4 has produced a fresh new look to the sport with an exciting and diverse talent line-up featuring David Coulthard, Mark Webber, Susie Wolff, Alain Prost and Eddie Jordan. Whisper Films have enhanced their growing reputation for innovation and creativity, with stand-out films featuring Jenson Button and Prince Albert of Monaco, which has also gained a nomination at the upcoming RTS Craft and Design Awards.
The AIB judges consisting of leading international figures from across TV, radio and online media commented, “The passion of the
presenters, and the extensive team behind the scenes translated to a great experience for the viewer. The production values were of the highest standard.”
Whisper Films Director, David Coulthard, said: “Receiving this award is a huge testament to all the hard work the team have dedicated to our Formula 1 output this season. Industry recognition is always great to see, particularly when up against other great sports events like the Rugby World Cup and FA Cup Final”.
Bloomberg TV’s Mark Barton hosted this year’s AIBs - the twelfth international awards for the best factual television, radio and online productions.
Whisper Films produces over 160 hours of terrestrial coverage each year with F1 for Channel 4, 40 NFL magazine shows for BBC Sport and NFL UnDiscovered broadcast on Sky Sports, along with coverage of the World Endurance Championship for Channel 4.
