Geoff Riding Joins Whisper Films From Channel 4
Geoff Riding has joined Whisper Films as their new Commercial Director after a successful career spanning 20 years at Channel 4, and previously ITV.
He leaves his role as C4’s Commercial Content Controller to focus on Whisper’s thriving branded content side, which has included producing high-end content for Red Bull, UBS, Heineken, Nissan, Hugo Boss and the Premier League.
Riding will also work closely with Whisper’s Head of TV, Mark Cole to identify and grow new opportunities in the broadcast space, utilising his experience from a long and successful career working with broadcasters, brands and rights holders.

The new appointment kicks off a promising 2018 for the flourishing independent sports production company, which has enjoyed another successful year of coverage including two Broadcast Award nominations for Best Sports Programme for the BBC NFL Show and Channel 4’s ground-breaking coverage of the Women’s European Championships, which attracted a peak audience of 4.3 million and over 15.7 million across the tournament.
Whisper’s TV portfolio also includes Channel 4’s award wining F1 coverage, BBC’s Women’s Six Nations, the forthcoming Winter Paralympics for C4 and a range of documentary coverage for Channel 5, Formula E and the Olympic Channel.
Whisper Films was established in 2010 by Managing Director, Sunil Patel, alongside TV Presenter Jake Humphrey and former Formula One driver David Coulthard. In 2015, Channel 4 took a minority stake in the company through their Growth Fund initiative.
The hiring of Riding, follows a number of high profile acquisitions including Match of the Day boss, Mark Cole, as Head of Television, Richard Gort as Creative Director, Kay Satterley as Production Executive, Andy Stevenson as Development Producer and Chris Grubb as Executive Producer.
